To prepare for a future in which robots are more commonplace, it is important to know what robot behaviors people find socially normative. Previous work suggests that be accepted by people, the should adhere prevalent social norms, such as those related approaching people. However, we do not expect normative approach can translated on one-on-one basis from robots, because currently have unique and different features humans, including (but limited to) wheels, sounds, shapes. The two studies presented this article go beyond state-of-the-art focus robots.
